Intro
People come to therapy for many different reasons: problem solving, mood difficulties, behavior change, communication issues, creative exploration, soul searching; these are just a few of the many aspects of being human that I hold in mind in working with individuals and couples. Whether you are seeking a safe and supportive place to explore career change, relationship challenges, or self-identity; or just want someone to talk to once a week; therapy is a great place to do those things.
Orientation
In meetings with clients and patients, I consider that each individual will likely respond to and find benefit from therapy depending on personality as well as mindset. Some may want a diagnosis, some may not. If seeking behavior change, some may respond to practical techniques while others may prefer discussing perspectives. And individuals with medical issues or who are taking medication may have wider ranges of concerns.
My approach is to draw from a selected set of therapeutic techniques acknowledging that life condition is influenced by factors both internal and external; and that the mind/body connection is fundamental.
About
As a recent graduate of a Masters Degree program in Marriage and Family Therapy, I just completed two years of clinical experience as a therapist trainee. I am currently awaiting confirmation from the BBS to affirm my status as an AMFT. As a developing psychotherapist, aside from theoretical influences that include family systems, behavior change and depth psychology, I am also strongly informed by 15 years of experience working as an RN on the inpatient psychiatric unit of a major hospital. I value highly the time spent with clients and patients.
